NOTE:If you have upgraded to XP and have an existing Dial-up connection, you can double click on that connection and then skip to step number 11 below.

2) Under Network Tasks, click on Create a new connection

3) Click on Next

4) Select Connect to the Internet and then click on Next

5) Selelct Set up my connection manually and click Next

6) Select Connect using a dial-up modem and click Next

7) Enter AstoriaIL.net and click Next

8) Enter 329-9918 and click Next

9) Enter your user name. Enter your password in both the password field and confirm password field.
The first two boxes should be checked. The third box should NOT be checked.
Click Next.

10) You may check the "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop" and then click Finish.

11) A Connect AstoriaIL.net window should come up. Click on Properties

12) Under the General tab:
a) Check "Use dialing rules"
Enter 309 in the Area code field

b) Click on Dialing Rules
Click on Edit

c) Make sure the Area code is correct
If you need to dial a number to get an outside line, disable call waiting, etc, then enter the the values in the appropriate places
Click on OK, and then click on OK again.

13) Under the Options tab:
Make sure that "Include Windows logon domain" is NOT checked

14) Under the Security tab:
a) Typical should be selected under the Security options and Allow unsecured password should be in the Validate my identity as follows box
b) Show terminal window and Run Script boxes should NOT be checked

15) Under the the Networking tab:

Type of dial-up server I am calling should be PPP:Windows95/98/NT 4/2000. Internet
In the This connection uses the following items box, Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) should be checked and Client for Microsoft Networking may be checked.
Click on the Settings button
Enable LCP extensions should NOT be checked
Enable software compression SHOULD be checked
Negotiate multi-link for single link connections may be checked
Click on OK.

16) Under the Advanced tab:
The Internet Connection Firewall box should NOT be checked
If there is a box for Internet Connection Sharing, it should NOT be checked.
Click on OK

17) Verify the User name is correct.
Verify the phone number in the Dial box is correct. You can modify it by clicking on Dialing Rules

18) Click on Dial to connect to AstoriaIL.net
